Training Seminars

Ridgeline Athletics Coaches Eric Carter and Gary Robbins have developed a one-day seminar that will cover all the training basics. In 2018, we added a women’s specific option hosted by Jeanelle Hazlett and Linda Barton-Robbins!

We use an informal presentation style that allows you to interact and personalize the conversation and presentation.

These seminars are designed to cover all the relevant topics and questions you may have in regards to getting the most out of your training and especially your racing efforts. The only prerequisite is that you are comfortable running at least 15 km of undulating terrain. You do not have to be competitive, fast or elite. This is very much designed with the everyday trail runner in mind.

Events hosted by Eric and Gary are open to all participants and will focus on general training for all ages and experience levels.

The women’s specific events are led by our wonderful Assistant Coach Jeanelle Hazlett, and accomplished 100 mile runner Linda Barton-Robbins. These are women’s only event with a specific focus on women completing their first ultra-marathon, or attempting to step up in distance to 50 miles, 100k or 100 miles.

Schedule (example):

8:00am – 11:30am: Classroom Component
(Snacks Provided)

Please arrive by 7:45 so we can start on time! We’ll cover developing a training plan, prioritization and periodization, common training pitfalls, altitude training, fueling/hydration, race day prep, pacing, balancing non-training stress such as managing work, life, and running, along with any and all other topics you may want to touch on. Wanna talk about chafing? Let’s do it! The floor is yours 🙂 We’ll also be giving away training plans for beginner ultra distances and free entries into upcoming CMTS races.
In the last 30min, you’ll have a chance to take advantage of the discount provided by our host run shop.

11:30am – 1:30pm: Trail Component
Warmup, uphill/downhill running technique basics and a group trail run (Unmarked. Route announced during classroom session)

2:00pm – 4:30pm: Social Time
Didn’t get your training question answered? The group will reconvene at a nearby restaurant for a bite to eat and an informal Q&A with Gary and Eric or Jeanelle and Linda (location TBA).

Cost: $85 + tax
Note: Lunch isn’t included. Each seminar does something slightly different so we have found it’s safer just to have everyone plan to buy their own lunch when we head to the restaurant.

Because of the tight timing of these events, tickets are non-refundable, but fully transferable to another person if you cannot make it.
